Logbook
The Building Logbook is a requirement of the Building Regulations Approved Document Part L2. It should provide the building manager with easy to use information about how the building is supposed to work. Most importantly, it must act as the main reference point for information on the building’s expected and actual energy performance (how much energy is used for heating and other systems, and the building’s carbon emissions).
The Logbook is:
- a summary of the building’s design, construction and handover process, and of its management and performance
- a reference point for all energy performance information and the location of more detailed information (e.g. in the O&M Manual)
- a source of information for the daily management of the building, for anyone working on it, and for training new staff
- a record of the building’s energy performance and of any work or alterations made to the building or its systems.
